Homicide #1906-xx
Date - 1906-04-29
Victim - Romanelli, John (??)
Accused - Macri, Salvatore (??)
Charge - Murder
On April 29th, 1906, John Romanelli was stabbed to death by Salvatore Macri.
Salvatore may have eluded capture for some time as the trial was not held until November 14th, 1907, but this is speculation by the author at this time. The trial was held at the Assizes of Winnipeg with Judge Howell residing. With no recommendation of mercy, Macri was found guilty and sentenced to hang on January 15th, 1907.
With an Order of the Court on January 8, 1907 the sentence was upheld and Macri was hanged on January 15th, 1907 at the Provincial Gaol in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
