On May 8th, 1924, Harry Tatarniuk suffocated and killed Kate Symchesyn during a robbery. Symchesyn was Tatarniuk's Aunt.
A trial was held between November 24 - 28, 1924 with at the Court of King's Bench, with Judge D.A. Macdonald residing.
Tatarniuk was found guilty with no recommendation of mercy and sentenced to hang on February 25th, 1925.
An Order in Court of February 21st, 1925 commuted Tatarniuk's sentence to life imprisonment at the Stony Mountain Penitentiary.
