On June 18th, 1946, Claude Frederick Salisbury was stabbed to death by his common-law wife, Elizabeth Maud McLean (50).

The trial took place October 16th - October 19th, 1946 in the Court of King's Bench, with Judge A.K. Dysart residing.

With a recommendation of mercy from the Judge, McLean was found guilty and sentenced to hang on January 3rd, 1947.

On appeal the charge was later reduced to Manslaughter and McLean was spared the hangman's noose.
