On December 18th, 1948, Metro MANEK was struck with an iron and killed by Steven BODNARCHUK. BODNARCHUK (37) was a Canadian of Austrian origin, employed as a labourer. The motive was reported as jealousy.
The trial took place February 21st-24th, 1949 in the Court of King's Bench, with Judge E.K. Williams residing.
Bodnarchuk was found guilty and sentenced to hang on May 17th, 1949. The sentence was later commuted to manslaughter.
