Statistics Canada Data: Winnipeg = 23 Manitoba = 36 (includes Winnipeg)
For 2002, Statistics Canada reported 36 homicide victims for the
province of Manitoba with 23 of those homicides occurring in
Winnipeg. In the Winnipeg table below I have identified 19
Confirmed, 1 Unsolved and 1 suspicious death. In the Manitoba
table I've identified 9 Confirmed, 6 Unsolved, 3 Disappearances, and 1
no charge laid. (TOTAL 40).
Some of the unsolved and disappearance cases may have been resolved but
not reported to media. If anyone has information related to the

UNSOLVED - Therena Adelin Marsland (nee Silva), of Winnipeg, Man., was 35 when her frozen and decomposed body was found along Templeton Ave just east of Ritchie St. in northwest Winnipeg. Her family last heard from her April 29, 2002, when she made a "very strange phone call" to her older sister in Abbotsford, British Columbia. Project Devote, a task force dedicated to missing and murdered persons cases in Manitoba, is handling the homicide.
