Shortly before 2:30am, Grady Monias was found in the back lane of the 100 block of Prince Edward Street in Point Douglas. He had been stabbed in the upper body and later died from his injuries in hospital.

At the time of this article it was not known if the 36-year-old Grady knew his attacker but a nearby house on Barber Street was a focus of police investigation.

Monias, originally from St. Theresa Point, had lived with his fiance and his two children, ages 12 and 2, on Pritchard Avenue.

The following day, 22-year-old, Richard Thomas Poynting was arrested and charged with 2nd degree murder.
