In the early morning of May 25, 2009, shortly before 5:30am, Rudolph Rieck awoke to the screams of his 16-year-old niece, Angela Holm. Angela, who had been lying on his couch, was being repeatedly stabbed by her step-cousin.

Both Angela and Rudolph were rushed to hospital, where Angela died of her injuries. According to the medical examiner, she had been stabbed 13 times.
Both family and police state the attack appeared to have been unprovoked.
Angela had recently received a bone marrow transplant that held promise of improved health in her battle against an immune disorder that required monthly intravenous injections. The same illness had taken the life of her older brother, Randall Holm, one year ago.
Police have arrested 18-year-old, Daniel Jesse James Munroe, with charges of 2nd Degree Murder and Attempt Murder.
